Introducing - The Next Day Edit - Directors Cut:
(View Sample)

We're now offering the "Next Day Edit - Directors Cut" A highlight video edited and published online within 24-48 hours after your reception. Each fall, we're so overwhelmed with the amount of backlog; it keeps us in the editing bay well past the end of the year. We attempt to have your wedding completely edited and authored to DVD within 6 to 8 weeks after your wedding, however that's not always possible considering the end-of-year workload.

We realize this may be longer than some clients desire to wait, but we must be fair to all of our couples and edit each wedding in the order it was shot. Also, do you remember the old saying; Good things come to those that wait? I never did like that saying myself, but it has some merit to it.In an effort to lesson the anxiety you may experience during your waiting period, we've decided to start offering what we call: The Next Day - Directors Cut.

We'll go to work immediately following your wedding day events and start editing your wedding day highlight and have it posted online within 24 - 48 hours. We'll provide the Internet address for your family and friends at the reception so they can access your next day edit online. If you wish, we can provide the necessary information in advance so you can add it to your wedding program. The "Next Day Edit - Directors Cut" is essentially your wedding day highlight video that will be authored to your final DVD except we stop production on everything else and make this edit a priority.

The Trailer Edit
(View Sample)

I estimate that it requires approximately 10 hours of postproduction for every hour of raw footage we capture at your wedding. With 8 to 10 tapes per wedding, well unlike most wedding vendors, our work has just begun.

Once editing has been completed, the authoring process has yet to take place. This involves implementing the navigation structure of your wedding movie with motion menus, as well as designing the artwork for your DVD covers, and disk labels. We feel each wedding is special! After all, it's not "just another wedding" it's YOUR wedding, and you are important to us. We simply will NOT take short cuts in postproduction whether you've purchased the Bronze package or our most elaborate one. I've said all of that to say this; Postproduction can take some time as well as authoring, reproducing, and packaging. Therefore to help reduce your anxiety just a bit, we’ll produce a trailer and post it online at the beginning of the postproduction process.

What does a trailer consist of, and what is it's purpose? Well, the running time of a trailer can be anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute and a half. The video may or may not be in chronological order of the day's events. The trailer is not intended to tell the whole story, but it's designed to show you what you can expect to see in your upcoming wedding movie, as well as the video and audio quality obtained from the shoot. This will be the first edit we accomplish once we capture all of your raw footage and begin postproduction (normally 6 to 8 weeks after your wedding. We will upload this trailer to the internet and provide you with the address so you, family and friends can access it online.

Shooting the Wedding and Reception

On-site Production Time: Unless additional pre-ceremony options have been purchased, or you request that we begin capturing video at a specified time, we will typically arrive at the ceremony venue 2 hours prior to the beginning of the processional. The first hour is NOT considered part of your “on-site production time”. It’s used to set-up our equipment. Your package “on-site production time” typically starts 1 hour prior to the processional. This is minimum amount of time required to shoot establishing shots both outside and inside the venue, as well as guests arriving and being ushered to their seats. The contract will specifically indicate our start and stop times. A 1-hour venue relocation period is considered to be part of the on-site production time. Any period exceeding an hour between the ceremony and reception is considered “idle time” and is charged at the rate of $50.00 per hour. We will record the wedding in its entirety and all traditional reception events up to the time limit of your package to include additional package enhancement options. We ask that you coordinate the completion of all reception events, which you desire to be captured within the coverage time allotted by your selected package with options. If this is not possible, or if the event is running longer than expected, we will inform you concerning this matter and seek your approval before staying over the contracted time limit. Overtime is rated at $250 per hour and is not prorated.

Camera Setup (at the ceremony): All ceremonies are shot with a minimum of 2 manned cameras. Using industry standard tripods, we prefer to position the front camera catty-corner from the bride. If the officiant is facing the audience during the ceremony, the front camera will be off to the right side of the alter area (i.e. catty-corner from the front of the bride). If the officiate has his/her back to the audience, or if we are prohibited from being on the alter area, we will setup or front camera on the right side in front the pew area. The second camera is positioned in the back of the sanctuary, usually in the balcony if available. With our Silver or better package, we will use 3 cameras. The front videographer normally operates this third camera using a hand-held device such as a steady-stick or a Glide-Cam stabilizer. Often, the fixed position of the front tripod camera will have an obstructed view of the bridal processional, especially when the crowd stands in honor of the bride; this is where a third (handheld) camera really comes in handy! Other instances that may require a third camera for the best possible shots are when the bride and groom must move positions temporarily. Examples of this would be during the lighting the unity candle, participating in a sand ceremony, or presenting flowers to the parents. A third videographer is also an option that you might want to consider, particularly when our movements are restricted or prohibited.

Mic Placement (at the ceremony): We now capture superb audio using our own quality microphones, totally independent of the venue’s sound system. We typically provide the groom and the officiate with separate wireless lavaliere mics. The groom’s mic is sufficient to capture audio from the bride. We’ll place a wired mic on the podium to capture any readers or vocalist and we’ll use another wired mic to capture ambience audio. If feasible, we’ll also tap into the venue’s soundboard, recording it’s audio as a backup. We capture our audio source to 4-channel digital recorder not our cameras. However, our cameras will still capture ambience using their built in mics. We’ll master your DVD’s in stereo. If you have purchased a Silver or better package we’ll use a minimum of 6 mics at various locations all recording 96 kHz 24-Bit audio and mastered in high quality stereo. If your not quite sure what that means, it’s basically 3 times the quality audio CD’s. The higher the quality is when capturing the audio, the better the end product will be after postproduction. Also if purchasing the Silver or better package, you may want to consider the optional surround sound package.

Camera and Mic Setup (at the reception): As with the ceremony, all receptions are shot with 2 manned cameras. One camera is typically mounted on a tripod, while the 2nd videographer shoots everything either hand-held or with the steady-stick or Glide-Cam stabilizer. As with the ceremony, the cameras are capturing on-board audio however, a 4-track digital recorder is also used in conjunction with high quality microphones to capture exceptionally high quality audio all totally independent of our video cameras. If your DJ will allow us to hook up to his soundboard, we’ll connect a direct feed from his stereo output to our recorder. Additionally we’ll use a pair of high quality mics to capture ambient audio in stereo. This is one reason we ask for your DJs contact information prior to your wedding day. We will contact him to coordinate the audio connections.

Please note, this if very important. If your DJ refuses to allow us to connect directly to his/her soundboard then we must insist that he/she use our wireless handheld mic during his/her announcement of the wedding party grand entrance and for the toasts delivered by the bridesmaid and best man.. This is the only way we can guarantee quality audio for your video during these special most important moments. In this case, we will also provide the DJ with a wireless receiver, which he/she can plug into his/her soundboard to amplify the audio.

Using Enhancement Credits

In an effort give you a better choice as to what options you want to include in your package, we provide Enhancement Credits to our top 3 packages. So instead of specifying a particular service ourselves, we’ve provided you with credits that can be used toward the specific enhancements that you want to include in your package. These credits are actually more like coupons; they cannot be traded in for cash rebates, however any ‘change” left over may be used to purchase additional copies of your video or additional coverage time based on the standard overtime rate of $250 per hour. Please note: Enhancement Credits can not be used to purchase the HD Video Upgrade or the rehearsal & dinner option.
